The Sunday Times has published it’s annual league table of the best places to live. The league table is based on statistics, crime and school achievements as well as on the personal evaluations of The Sunday Times judging panel.
Amersham, Bucks
Amersham, this year’s winner has been a consistent member of the top 20. Highlights quoted for it’s success are;
- It’s on the Metropolitan Tube line and super-reliable Chiltern Railways
- You can pay with an Oyster card, a cut-price option not available with rivals such as Beaconsfield or Gerrards Cross
- Surrounded by pretty Chilterns countryside
- Less blingy than its peers, and the locals take a “one for the road” approach to the work/life balance.
- Two towns for the price of one. Old Amersham, all half-timbered houses, independent shops and restaurants. Up the hill is the newer town with the station, shops, swimming pool and some sought-after schools
